Privacy policy

The short version

• Browsing Akinn is free and requires no account.
• The data you enter in our guided start, search filters, shortlist, and funding tool is stored in your browser (localStorage) and never sent to us.
• When you submit an enquiry about a care home, your details go only to the home(s) you choose, with your consent, and to nobody else.
• We never sell your personal data. We never share it with third parties for marketing.

What we collect

Browser-stored data (you control it, we never see it)

The following stays in your browser and is not transmitted to Akinn's servers:

• Search filters and saved searches
• Your shortlist of up to four homes
• Guided start answers (care needs, region, budget)
• Funding tool inputs

You can clear this at any time through your browser's settings or by clicking "Clear" wherever it appears on the platform.

Enquiry data (you choose when to share)

When you submit a qualified enquiry to a care home, we collect:

• Your name and contact email
• Optional message explaining your needs
• Which home(s) you've chosen to enquire with

This data is shared with the home(s) you select. It's not shared with any other care provider, broker, or third party. (The enquiry workflow is in development; see About for status.)

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are useful. Analytics do not use cookies that track you across other sites, do not capture personal data, and do not feed third-party advertising networks.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to processing. Email privacy@akinn.co.uk and we'll respond within one month.
