Privacy policy
Plain-English explanation of what we collect, what we do with it, and what we never do with it. Last updated September 2026.
The short version
- Browsing Akinn is free and requires no account.
- What you type into the guided start, search filters, shortlist, and funding tool stays in your browser and is never sent to us.
- What you submit through a form — an enquiry, an urgent placement request, or a provider early-access request — is sent to the Akinn team, and only to us.
- We never sell your personal data, and never share it for marketing.
What stays on your device
The following is held in your browser's localStorage and is not transmitted to us. We cannot see it:
- Search filters and saved searches
- Your shortlist of up to four homes
- Guided start answers (care needs, region, budget)
- Funding tool inputs

What you send us
When you submit an enquiry about a home, an urgent placement request, or a provider early-access request, we receive what you entered — typically your name, email, phone number where you give one, and anything you write about your situation. It reaches the Akinn team by email and is held in our business systems so we can reply.
Enquiries do not currently go to care homes. Automated routing to providers is still being built, so today a member of our team reads your enquiry and follows it up by hand. When routing does go live, your details will go only to the home or homes you have chosen, and this page will be updated before that happens. We will not pass your details to any home you did not choose, to any broker, or to any other third party.
Our lawful basis for handling this is legitimate interest — you asked us to help with a care search, and we cannot do that without keeping what you told us.
Provider and staff accounts
If you hold a provider or Akinn account, we store your name, email, role, and the organisation you belong to, and set a cc-session cookie to keep you signed in. Listing details you enter are published on the public listing for your home — that is the purpose of the account.
Analytics
We run no analytics. No Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no third-party measurement of any kind. If we ever add analytics, we will say so here first and will choose a provider that does not track people across sites.
How long we keep things
Enquiries and early-access requests are kept while we are helping you and for up to two years afterwards, so we can pick up a conversation you return to. Ask us to delete yours sooner and we will.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to processing. Email support@akinn.co.uk and we'll respond within one month.
